How we handle your information — clearly and honestly.

Short version: Find My Journey collects only what is necessary to deliver your results. We store your assessment answers and results to improve the product and enable you to return to your results. We do not sell your data. Personal identifying information is removed after 12 months. Depersonalised assessment data is retained indefinitely for research purposes.

1. Who we are

Find My Journey is an AI-powered career discovery tool for young Australians aged 15–25. We are operated by Find My Journey (ABN 94 672 651 253), a sole trader business registered in Victoria, Australia. Our contact email is hello@findmyjourney.com.au.

2. What information we collect

Assessment answers

When you use the Find My Journey assessment, you answer questions about your interests, values, personality and work preferences. These answers are stored securely and used to generate your personalised career results. Your raw assessment answers are retained in depersonalised form indefinitely for research and product improvement purposes.

Name, age and gender

We collect your first name to personalise your results. We ask for your age and gender to better understand our Explorer community and improve the relevance of career matches. Your name is removed after the applicable retention period. Your age and gender are retained indefinitely as part of your depersonalised results record.

Location

We ask for your state and city or suburb to surface locally relevant course providers and pathways. Location data is retained as part of your depersonalised results record.

Email address (optional)

If you choose to receive your results by email, we collect your email address solely to send you your results and return link. We do not use this to send marketing emails.

Usage data

We collect anonymous usage data including pages visited, features used and general session information via Google Analytics. This data cannot be linked to an individual and is used solely to improve Find My Journey.

Saved results

All completed assessments are saved to our secure database. We store the following:

Personal identifying information (name and email) is removed after 12 months for individual Explorers, or after the duration of your institution’s agreement with Find My Journey plus 12 months for institution-linked Explorers. Depersonalised assessment data is retained indefinitely.

3. How we use your information

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling or any commercial purpose beyond operating Find My Journey.

4. Who we share your information with

Anthropic

Your assessment answers are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate your results. Anthropic processes this data as a service provider under their privacy policy. Your answers are not used to train Anthropic’s AI models.

Cloud database provider

Your results are stored in a secure cloud database hosted in Sydney, Australia. This provider acts as a data processor on our behalf and does not access your data for any purpose other than storage and retrieval.

Cache and storage provider

Your results return link is stored in a secure cache and storage service hosted in Sydney, Australia, and retained for 12 months. This provider acts as a data processor on our behalf.

Email delivery provider

If you request email delivery of your results, your email address and results summary are sent to a transactional email delivery provider to deliver the email. This provider does not retain your data beyond delivery.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data about how visitors interact with our site. This data is aggregated and cannot be linked to an individual. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Your institution (if applicable)

If you complete an assessment through an institutional arrangement, your results are accessible to authorised staff at that institution. Find My Journey acts as a data processor on behalf of institutions. The institution is the primary data controller for its students’ information.

We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with any other third parties.

5. Parental consent and under-18s

Find My Journey is designed for young Australians aged 15–25. We encourage anyone under 15 to let a parent or guardian know they are using this tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Where Find My Journey is used through an institutional arrangement involving students under 18, the institution is responsible for ensuring that appropriate parental or guardian consent has been obtained in accordance with applicable laws and the institution’s own policies.

6. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. Our databases are hosted in Australia and protected by industry-standard security measures including row-level security, encrypted connections and access controls. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage system is completely secure.

Under Australian privacy law (Privacy Act 1988) you have the right to access, correct or request deletion of any personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@findmyjourney.com.au.

You may request early removal of your personal identifying information at any time by contacting us with your personal return link or result code.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of Find My Journey after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
